We gathered for the August meeting on the 18th of the month.
The first subject of discussion was the Jacob's Well 'framing party'. Jay is gathering more information and will report back once a date is established.
The group voted to donate funds to the 'City Fest' event to help provide 'back to school' backpacks to families in need.
The recent Lynnwood apartment fire was also discussed. This fire left 70 to 80 people homeless. Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood is providing emergency shelter for the fire victims. It was decided to donate funds to the church to help defray the cost of housing the fire victims and to help support any of the emergency shelter's future needs.
The group also discussed doing another Thanksgiving food basket effort this year. Everyone agreed this was a good effort last year and was worth repeating. We will research the cost of the effort and also research potential recipients.

July 2010
The July meeting began with a discussion on what should be the focus of our current donation efforts. We decided to support the Vision House/Jacob's Well project AND the Haiti rebuilding effort by spliting our donation between the two projects.
We also talked about the upcoming service day at Vision House. Sign up sheets are up and a good turn out is expected.
The group also discussed the Campbell Nelson Cares mission statement and decided that it does a good job od describing what we are about and what we support.

June 2010
The June Meeting began with two guest speakers from Crista Ministries, Tom and Jacinta. Tom gave the group a brief overview of Crista and it's 7 divisions, and Jacinta gave us an update on World Concern's Haiti relief efforts.
Jacinta indicated that World Concern has been on the ground in Haiti for over 30 years. She said the January earthquake had killed over 300,000 people and had left 1 million people homeless. Initial life saving measures have ended and they have entered the provisional rebuilding phase. World Concern is currently paying over 2000 local people to clear rubble from their own homes in preparation for rebuilding efforts.
World Concern has developed several home prototypes and have settled one one design as the most appropriate. That prototype will cost around $1200.00 each. We thanked Tom and Jacinta for their visit and the relief efforts in Haiti.

May 2010
The group discussed the May 22nd service project at Vision House. The project was well attended by the friends and family of Campbell Nelson. Lawn and garden maintenance was completed at the facility. We agreed that it was a very fulfilling experience.

April 2010
First item of business was information on the location of the 'Kids Healing Kits'. Sounds like the kits have reached the barge company dock and were being loaded for the barge trip to Haiti.
We discussed the Vision House/Jacob's Well project and decided a donation to their building fund was in order. This donation will help them with the new Jacob's Well building project.
Our second service project was also discussed. It was decided to offer some landscaping maintenance work to the Vision House site. We will try to arrange this opportunity for the middle of May (date to be determined).
Mid March 2010
We all met on March 20th to build the 'Kids Healing Kits'. There was a great turnout with friends and family all meeting to put the kits together.
We formed a production line and started stuffing the 2 1/2 gallon zip lock bags with the morale and hygiene items. Before long we had been able to build 120 complete kits. We packed 10 large shipping boxes and prepped them for getting these off to the shipping company.
We had a decent amount of hygiene items left over from the generous donations we received from our friends and neighbors. We packaged these up for donation to the Vision House - Jacob's Well project.

Early March 2010
The effort to build the "Kids Healing Kits" is looking to be a great success. The employees and customers for Campbell Nelson have really come through for these kids. Instead of the 50 kits we thought we could get together, it looks like we will be able to build over 100 of them.
We need to acknowledge some folks at this point. To the dentists in the Lynnwood, Shoreline area (you know who you are) who donated over 1000 tubes of toothpaste and over 500 toothbrushes to this effort - Many thanks for your VERY generous donations.
To Clint and his folks at the Lynnwood Albertson's (196th and Hiway 99), who donated some needed materials for the kits and provided about 80% of the remainder at store cost - Many thanks for your help on this project.
To Robert Fuller at Wells Fargo Advisors for his generous donation of cash to help see this project through, Thanks Bob!
